HelAFF Awards Prizes in Baghdad

Baghdad – February 8, 2025

Amir Khatib, General Manager and Co-founder of the Helsinki Arab Film Festival (HelAFF), presented awards to Iraqi actors and filmmakers who triumphed during the festival's inaugural edition.

The event was graciously hosted by Dr. Jabbar Jodi al-Abodi, Head of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, who expressed his enthusiasm for the successful outcomes of the first edition of HelAFF and voiced his support for this emerging festival.

Dr. al-Abodi highlighted the potential for future collaborations between HelAFF and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, fostering a strong partnership in the arts.

During the ceremony, Khatib awarded the prize for "Best Actor" to Mr. Raaed Mohsen for his role in the Iraqi film "The Last Postman," and recognised Mr. Wathab Al-Seqar with the award for Best Scenario for the Iraqi short film "Chastity Belt.”
